Media outlets have reported that the company notified employees that they are headhunting for the role of managing the new team. Tencent has held a recurring interest in blockchain technology, and the intention of this new development is review cryptocurrency adoption into the payment platform. The team will also explore alternative application uses and potentially support the PBOC (People’s Bank Of China) with issuing digital yuan in the future.
