The Sacramento Kings have announced the launch of a live blockchain-powered auction platform, the first of its kind in the NBA league. The platform has been built in collaboration with blockchain software firm ConsenSys, utilising their Treum supply chain tool to track and auction game-day apparel. Fans can head to the auction website to bid for items, and the platform can also be used to authenticate all winning items. This week, a game-day jersey of the Kings’ field guard Buddy Hield sold for $1,090 on the platform. Owner of the team Vivek Ranadivé has received praise for his advocation of real-time technology within the business, as the team previously announced the acceptance of Bitcoin payments.
