Foreign exchange Travelex has fallen victim to a cyber attack, which has forced the company to shut down its entire online network and computer systems in attempt to contain the virus. The hackers have commanded a rumoured $3 million in Bitcoin payment to remove the infamous Sodinokibi ransomware, and are threatening to release sensitive customer data if their demands are not met. Travelex are working alongside the Met Police in London and the NCA (National Crime Agency) in a criminal investigation, with CEO Tony D’Souza assuring customers that they are focused on protecting customer data and are “working tirelessly” to restart their systems.
